Repost: Summer Solstice Labyrinth: Sunday June 24, 2012 from 2 pm to 4:30 pm at Spanish Banks in Vancouver BC.

Open to the ocean, mountains, trees and sky, this labyrinth event will connect your inner spirit to the earth and the Divine in the grandeur of the natural world.

Summer Solstice is a liminal time in nature. An extraordinary time "betixt and between" spring and summer. As such, it is an opportunity for the spiritual traveler to seek and find a better understanding of life and receive a vision of how things might be.

This Summer Solstice, walk a labyrinth with the intention of uncovering a new perspective of being.

Bamboo skewer and string labyrinth . . .

I made a labyrinth from bamboo skewers and string - my first attempt - for the World Partnership Walk at Stanley Park in Vancouver yesterday. This is an annual event to raise money for social development in Asia and Africa by the Aga Khan Foundation.

Labyrinth Event: Sunday February 12, 2012 from 2:30 to 4:00 pm at Kitsilano Beach, Vancouver BC.

The idea that we are separate from Nature and the ocean is an illusion.
Walking a labyrinth on the foreshore transports us away from our ordinary lives and  makes it possible to become conscious how interconnected we are with the ocean.

I will be drawing a labyrinth, on Sunday February 12, 2012, for my friend Marten Sims. He is holding an Art Exhibit and Workshop Series that explores the sea around and inside us.

The exhibition:     "Sea Inside"
The dates:             February 11th to 19th.
The location is:    Concourse Gallery, Emily Carr University
                                   1399 Johnston Street, Granville Island
                                   Vancouver, BC

Please see his site:
http://www.seainsideproject.com/

An opening prayer for this Labyrinth Event  will be performed by Veronica Wilson.

Labyrinth Location:
From the corner of the 2100 block of Cornwall Avenue, where there is a Starbucks, walk across the street to the telephone booth. Then walk down the path toward the water, over to the front of Boathouse Restaurant and past the shower toward the water. The labyrinth will be beside the water.

Labyrinth event: Winter Solstice Labyrinth, today, Wednesday December 21, 2011 from 8:30 to 10 pm at Sunset Beach, English Bay Vancouver.

Happy Winter Solstice Decemeber 2011!

I am writing to confirm that this event will proceed as scheduled tonight.

Walking a labyrinth on Winter Solstice allows us to find stillness and the connection to our personal pilgrimage. Our Spiritual eye can then guide us through the winter months.

Directions to the labyrinth location(pictures of the location are below):
Sunset Beach is on English Bay in Vancouver and is close to the corner of Beach Avenue and Bute Street. Find the Beach Cafe, then make your way to the walking path in front of the Beach Cafe, next to the beach. Facing the water, the Burrard Street Bridge will be on your left. Walk toward the bridge and the fenced area of the parking lot until you reach the light on your left and the 'No Dogs Permitted on Beach' sign on your right. The labyrinth will be on the beach where the land slopes to the water, behind the sign . . . reminder to dress for the weather.

There is no cost to attend this event.

The tide is low late at night or too early in the morning . . .

The tide is low late at night or too early in the morning during this time of the year for there to be enough light to draw and walk, on the foreshore, at Spanish Banks in Vancouver. I may, however, draw some evening at Sunset Beach in English Bay. That beach is lit with light from False Creek and the surrounding buildings, so please check back through out the winter or email me:

Peace.

Equinox Labyrinth Event: Saturday September 24, 2011 from 9 to 11 am at Spanish Banks, Vancouver.

The forecast for tomorrow is splendid. So this event will occur as scheduled.

Equinox is a transitional time of the year as we pass from summer into fall.  This change of season may be used as a metaphor for our life as we redesign, reshape or remodel our lives when our world shifts. Walking a labyrinth with the intention of reorganizing our priorities can grant our spirit permission to unearth a new path.

Sounding Between Land and Sea: Sunday, July 17th from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Spanish Banks, Vancouver, British Columbia.

Come and join us as we find ways for our own vocal sounds to harmonize with the sounds and landscapes around us.
At Spanish Banks we look to the mountains, the city, the forest and the sea for communication and inspiration. Sounding is a great way to send healing to the world’s trouble spots, while giving to ourselves at the same time. No singing experience necessary — just bring the voice you have!

This event will be facilitated by Kira Van Deusen. She will start the event, with an introduction, around 1:15.

You can find out more about Kira by going to her web page:

About Me

My Photo
This Blog is for people looking for an outdoor labyrinth to walk in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. These Events are outdoors, on the foreshore of the ocean, so they are weather permitting events. Please check my Blog for Event day confirmation when weather might be an issue. Walking a Labyrinth is like accepting an invitation to pray, meditate, contemplate, dream, celebrate or play; a place to find inspiration, satisfy a curiosity, examine metaphor, mythology or simply, a place to explore liminal space: a 'betwixt and between' place. . . Labyrinths are drawn on the foreshore, betwixt the nearshore and the backshore, between the low and high water marks to present liminal space as a physical location. Labyrinths may also be drawn during liminal time: dusk or dawn and/or solstice or equinox. Victor W Turner has described liminality as "a fructile chaos, a storehouse of possibilities, not a random assemblage but a striving after new forms and structures, a gestation process." My vision is that when you walk a labyrinth on the foreshore, you will access liminal space. For information please email: walkingalabyrinth@gmail.com
